August.

August started off pretty quiet. I spent the first full week house-sitting for family in North port. It was a peaceful time filled with puppy & kitty kisses. I have a serious soul connection with Paquin.

// Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

HarryPotterandthecursed child

I'm sure everyone has read it by now. It is such a quick read, yet I took my sweet-ass time reading it. I enjoyed it. It was nice to re-visit the world. I also would love to see the play so I could see visually how they put on this story.

// Beach & Tomatoes!

I absolutely love living so close to the beach. I mean...when you live on LI you are technically always close to the beach. We are particularly close to one, and it is so relaxing to just go for an hour or two and enjoy the sun. We got to experience the beach a lot in August. My favorite was going in the morning and reading for a couple of hours. One day we actually visited twice in one day (between my petsitting jobs) and went swimming! I have not gone swimming in LI water in a very long time.

Ant started a garden this year and August brought on our first tomatoes! It was SO exciting. We celebrated by making homemade pizzas and cocktails.

// ATE OYSTERS, YA'LL!

On the 20th, Ant, Liss, Sam and I traveled to Milford, CT to visit Amy, Alex & Andrew. Their town was holding its annual Oyster Festival. It's huge and insane! The whole town pretty much shuts down and there is tons of vendors, music and food. Of course since I was at a festival themed after oysters, I definitely had to try them. I tried fried,roasted & raw. All were very good, but I prefer the fried. (duh, anything fried is good.)

I actually have no pictures of Oysters, or of the festival..but this was taken that day. My sister, Sam, is obsessed with cracking peoples ears. Here she is cracking Andrew's.

// B&E 8.28.16

I have been waiting for this date for 9 months. Last November, one of my very, best friends got engaged and immediately started planning her wedding. The day finally arrived! I was honored to be the Matron of Honor and Ant was an honorary member of the bridal party. Brittney gave him the job of "videographer" and he filmed the whole weekend. It was tons of fun and looking back, I just can't believe it has come and gone. Time seriously moves so fast.

July.

When I think back to the beginning of July, especially July 4, it seems like that was so long ago..yet it feels like July flew by. It's always that way, right?

// Marathon Pet-sitting and the 4th

The first weekend of July was insane-o in terms of pet-sitting. I called Saturday, the 2nd, marathon pet-sitting day. I had 11 visits to go to, it included 3 different houses, all dogs. It was intense but made it through. Ant, as always, is a champ for keeping me company.

That Sunday, Ingrid invited us over for her family's annual July 4th party and it was so much fun. Ingrid's family are party people. They party for days straight, eat great food and dance into the night.

// Pokemon' Go happened

I have to mention Pokemon Go. It has taken over lives.

// Weekend getaways are a MUST

After traveling all last summer, I have been craving a vacation. We planned a weekend trip to Delaware to visit Ant's cousin Stacey & her husband, Anthony. (two Ants! ha!)  It was a blast and it was very much needed. As we were driving, I became reminiscent of last summer and it felt so good. I really do love road trips and I discovered that last year. Ant loves to drive & I love to play passenger. We make a great team! DE was fun. We ate delectable food, drank good beer, held great conversation & even did some kayaking. I can't wait to go back and check out other towns around where they live during off season. Stacey sent us home with the Hamilton sound track. #obsessed

// Gettin' my kitten fix

Last winter, Ant & I decided that we were going to adopt a kitten to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary (one year is the kitten anniversary, right?) June came and we decided that we just weren't ready for "Soley & Liam to not be the center of our lives." That's a direct quote from Anthony.

AWAPrescueCatMak

I started volunteering one morning a week for AWAP RESCUE. They have a cat adoption center in Petsmart and I have wanted to do this for a very long time. It has been fun! I love smooching' up all the kitties when I see them. It's a lovely way to start the week.

// No Pay, Nudity

Every year, Stony Brook University holds a film festival that I love to attend. Mom, Ant & I watched the short Gas Regulator and the feature, No Pay, Nudity. It had a huge turn out! Even Nathan Lane was in the audience. Pretty dope! One thing I always wonder though...how come young people don't attend the festival? or maybe I'm missing them? Every time I have gone I feel like I am one of the few youngest in the room. I have no problem with it, I just don't know why my peers aren't interested in going.

// Tree Hill Talk is going strong!

Tree Hill Talk, the podcast I co-host with Ingrid & Liss is going SO WELL.  We successfully had a live stream episode of us watching the finale of Season 1 and also streamed us recording our talk portion for our podcast. We had people commenting & engaging live which was super cool. Our FB page has over 4,000 likes and we have 16 reviews on iTunes too! This whole experience has just been very exciting and enjoyable. Now, for some OTH talk: We're now on Season 2. I'm still waiting to love Brooke and I'm still rooting for Peyton & Lucas.

// RIP Honey

Our last remaining, original family pet, Honey past away the last weekend in July. She was 17 years old. She was a sweet girl. As sad as we are, it is nice to know that she went peacefully and did not suffer. It's so hard losing a pet. Honey was Sam's cat and they had a wonderful bond.

//Strawberry Fields Forever

Enjoy. :D

June.

I ALWAYS have the intention to update my blog more frequently than when it actually happens. I mean, I wrote that in the last post as well. I really don't have this thing for readers or to gain followers but it's more for me to have an archive of events, stories and rambles that I like to keep. I love having a record. I do have an actual pen-paper journal that I use ( not as much as I should! GAH) but I like having it online. There are times when Ant or I will forget something from the past and he'll say "Look it up! Let's consult your blogs!" (I have so many, haha) that it's nice to look back on. It kind of reminds me of when I was younger and my dad video recorded EVERYTHING. Birthdays, vacations, school concerts..even just my sister and I playing around the house. I'm so glad he did that because it's nice to look back and view those memories again. I like reflecting visually. Our memories are a wonderful thing, but to actually relive an event is a total different experience.

With all that being said, I plan on doing monthly round ups. I can handle that. Maybe in the future it will increase.

I started my site over 2 years ago..but set a different intention for this blog one year ago. Ant and I set out on our honeymoon journey. I cannot believe that it has been a year. If anyone would like to relive it with me, you can start here.

Now onto my favorites from June.

// ATX Television Festival

Man, do I love ATX. It is so damn hard to put into words on how to sum up my experience there. I wish I could bottle up the energy and the feeling and then release it so it can speak for me. This was our (Anthony, Jameson and I) third year attending as volunteers. It's such a kick-ass festival celebrating (in my opinion) the best medium in a great city. The energy and excitement of the festival is invigorating. Honestly, it's a place that I feel at home. Summer camp for adults! The best part about this festival is the people. I love the people that run it and I love the volunteers that we get to work with. It's like a reunion when we all see each other. It's also a reunion with Jameson too. We don't see him very often and we just have so much fun with him. So many laughs.

// Living Your Dreams

What a great segue on my part to lead to this. I am still going strong with my podcast, In Your Dreams, but it's been hard this month because I haven't really been remembering my dreams! While in Austin, I was hoping that one of us would have a dream that we could record about but no one seemed to have anything good. That inspired the idea for a new segment called Living Your Dreams. It will include fun/special events that happen while I'm actually awake.

// NOT binge watching is REFRESHING

I should start by saying that, yes, I am still taking part in the binge watch culture. However, there is one show in my life that I am approaching totally different. A couple of months ago, Ingrid, a long time lover of One Tree Hill suggested that Liss and I watch it. We both have never seen it and decided that once Liss was done with school and our other shows ended for the season we would start OTH and have a podcast about it. Tree Hill Talk was born! We started in the middle of May, but it took until this month for me to really love the way we are approaching this. We watch two episodes at a time and then record right after summarizing the episode and sharing our thoughts. I LOVE IT. I love that we aren't bingeing this show. I love that we are actually DISCUSSING IT. Digging deep into the characters, the plot lines and how we feel week to week. It's so lovely and refreshing to view a show like this. Since this is an old show that is on Netflix, it would be your perfect binge watch. Not for this lady.

// Roof top parties & summer concerts

We spent last weekend in CT with Amy & Alex. They live in Milford in a beautiful apartment. Amy has such an eye for decor, that it is inspiring. In her building she has access to the roof top so her and Alex through a little roof top shindig. It was a blast.

I experienced my first time at Jones Beach theatre this month with Ingrid. She invited me to go see Taking Back Sunday & Dashboard Confessional. HOLY THROW BACK. Talk about reliving memories. It's insane how quickly a song can bring you back, right?

// The return of Big Brother

It's summer and that means that the dumb show on CBS, Big Brother is back! It's my summer guilty pleasure. I'm really not one for reality TV but this one does interest me. Imagine being stuck in a house for set amount of months and you have to make relationships and manipulate? I like seeing how these people handle themselves and like to think of what I would do. I used to watch it when I was a kid and I can't believe it's still on. WHO ELSE IS WATCHING?! Get at me.

// One year of marriage

On the 26th, Ant and I celebrated our one year of marriage..or how I like to look at it: our eight year anniversary. To me, that is WAY more impressive than the first year of marriage. EIGHT YEARS! I found it funny that through out this year people always asked me " How is married life?" Um..it's the same as not married life? Do people actually have different answers for this? Nothing changed except for the awesome tax break and I didn't really learn anything new. Ant is still my favorite human, my best friend and our relationship is what I am most proud of in my life. We celebrated by having dinner at The Fifth Season (fun fact: it's where we had our wedding dinner) and wore our wedding garb. Everything still fits and still looks perf.

Kilo

Time has slipped away from me. April & May came and went so fast..and now we're at the end of June. WOWZA.

However, it's never too late for dog portraits. I photographed Kilo back in April. He lives with one of my bests, Ingrid. We have been wanting to have a photo shoot with Kilo for a while now. Two years ago, we had one with his brother, Loki and have been meaning to do Kilo ever since! Enjoy his handsome-ness.

Pearl.

This week I photographed Pearl, (love the name!) the La-chon. In case you are wondering, a La-chon is a breed that is a mix of Bichon Frise and LhasaApso. She is just over a year old, and has the softest, prettiest, white fur.

Thank you to my friend, Sam, for sharing her cuteness with me. Follow Pearl and her adventures on instagram: @pearl_thelachon

Jake is 10!

Our family's Boston Terrier is celebrating his 10th birthday today. We obviously had to have a portrait session! Olive joined in on the party as well.
